Religious Education Registration Has Begun

Unbelievably, it is now less than a month before school starts back up. Below are guidelines to help you sign your children and youth up for religious education here at Our Lady of the Angels.

Open Registration

Registration is now open for all Religious Education ministries. Registration will close for Children’s Faith Formation on Friday, August 26th. Youth Group has continual enrollment for new parishioners, but it is required to sign up on or before the Back to School Bash in August. (see below)

Please fill out the registration packet by downloading a copy or picking one up at the Church Office. Registration is complete only when all necessary forms have been turned in with accompanying payment.

High School Teenagers

All current high school members of the Youth Group (including rising freshman) and those high school teens who would like to join Youth Group, please attend the High School Back to School Bash on Sunday, August 14th, following the 5:00 PM Mass with your parents.

Registration will be available for those not yet registered and information concerning upcoming events and trips will be provided.

Middle School Teenagers

All current middle school members of the Youth Group (including rising 6th graders) and those middle school teens who would like to join Youth Group, please attend the Middle School Back to School Bash on Sunday, August 21st, following the 5:00 PM Mass with your parents.

Registration will be available for those not yet registered and information concerning upcoming events and trips will be provided.

1st-5th Grade Elementary School Children

It is paramount that registration be completed by Friday, August 26th. The following week class lists will be finalized and catechists assigned to teach. Students registering after this date may be turned away if classes have become full. Our space in which to teach in the Hall is limited and so too, then, is our availability. Please sign your child up as early as possible to avoid this possibility.

Youth and Children Preparing for Sacraments

Two years of participation in the Youth Group or Faith Formation is a necessary pre-requisite for receiving a sacrament (families must also be registered as parishioners). Please mark the spot on the Religious Education Registration form indicating that your youth or child is desiring the Sacrament of Confirmation or Communion.

In the second year of your child’s religious education, he/ she will have additional meetings throughout the year concerning the sacrament he/she is preparing to receive. Parents will also be asked to attend parent sessions. More information will be sent out to those who have registered by August, 26.

If you have any questions, feel free to call the office and ask for Debbie Jackson or Spence McSorley. Our extensions are 109 (Debbie) and 104 (Spence) if you call after hours.
