Confirmation

The Church believes and testifies that “Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds” (CCC# 1316).

For Catholics, Confirmation provides a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit,  which helps the confirmed Catholics witness to Christ and live a mature Christian life.

Sacramental Preparation for Youth

In the Diocese of Venice, youth are not to be presented before the bishop for the Sacrament of Confirmation until their 10th grade year (or older), after completing two years of preparation. Thus, preparation begins during the 9th grade year and culminates with the reception of the Sacrament at the end of 10th grade (typically May at Our Lady of the Angels).

2025/2026 Youth Confirmation Preparation Registration

The Diocese of Venice requires a two-year preparation to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Preparation must be at the home parish. This applies to Cardinal Mooney students as well.

Confirmation Sacramental preparation usually begins in 9th grade and ends in 10th grade. Please choose Option 1 (Year 1) or Option 2 (Year 2). If your teen needs to be Baptized and/or receive First Communion, please let us know. Classes begin in the fall.
