Opening of the Church for Private Prayer ONLY

We are happy to announce that the Bishop is allowing churches to open for private prayer. Our Lady of the Angels will prayerfully and carefully determine how to open the church to the faithful, following the Bishop’s guidelines and considering the safety and comfort of our parishioners. We will implement the measured decisions over the course of a few weeks. We will begin with the following:

  • The church will be open for private prayer from 10 am to Noon on Wednesday and Friday, May 6th and 8th.
  • Mass will continue to be offered via Facebook Live and recordings offered on our website and YouTube. The Chapel and Adoration Chapel will remain closed (at this time, Adoration chapels throughout the diocese are not permitted to be reopened).
  • Those visiting the church will be required to abide by social distancing guidelines and will be required to wear a mask. Please bring your own mask, as one will not be provided. Gloves are recommended as is personal hand sanitizer.
  • Visitors are asked to consider the number of people who wish to visit and are asked to stay no longer than 45 minutes.
  • Additional guidelines will be published prior to opening on Wednesday.

Hours for visitation will be extended as we see how it works and what accommodations are needed. We ask for the patience of our parishioners as we navigate these uncharted waters.

Visitation Policies and Procedures

  • If you have any illness of any kind, or are exhibiting any symptoms, please  stay home.
  • If you are “at risk”, including over the age of 65, have an underlying health condition, or are taking care of a loved one that is at risk, please stay home.
  • You must bring your own personal protective equipment to church.
  • By entering our church, you are acknowledging the potential risk for you to be in a public location. You will be praying at your own risk and accept that you will not be able to hold Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, the Diocese  of Venice in Florida or any party within those organizations accountable for  any illness or injury that may befall you.
  • You must wear a mask at all times while inside the building.
  • You are required to enter and exit through the Narthex doors only.
  • You must sit in the designated seating areas and maintain a distance of at least six feet from other visitors at all times.
  • You will be greeted by our Monitor. This person will be wearing a staff or hospitality minister badge. You must respect all directions provided by the Monitor.
  • Any questions you may have about the church, processes, or any other topic should be directed to the church office.

We look forward to having you here to pray at Our Lady of the Angels.
