CONFIRMATION
The Church believes and testifies that “Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds” (CCC# 1316).
For Catholics, Confirmation provides a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which helps the confirmed Catholics witness to Christ and live a mature Christian life.
Sacramental Preparation for Youth:
In the Diocese of Venice, youth are not to be presented before the bishop for the Sacrament of Confirmation until their 10th grade year (or older), after completing two years of preparation. Thus, preparation begins during the 9th grade year and culminates with the reception of the Sacrament at the end of 10th grade (typically May at Our Lady of the Angels).

Annual registration is required for both years of Confirmation preparation.
Cardinal Mooney students are required to complete the 2-year Preparation requirement set by the Diocese. If you will be starting 9th Grade at Cardinal Mooney, you will need to register for Confirmation 1 Class.
Confirmation 1 and 2 Classes will meet on alternate Tuesdays from 6PM – 7PM. Classes start in the fall. Please note that we will not have dates for Confirmation until the Bishop assigns the date. This may not be until 2025. We will notify all students of opportunities for retreat requirement as soon as information is available.
